I Will Lift Up My Eyes

This setting of Psalm 121, “I Will Lift Up My Eyes,” explores the capabilities of sonority and expressiveness in the treble choral medium. As such, the work is melodically driven with lyrical lines which quickly careen from the lower range into the upper, frequently spinning into moments of full sonority, and then moving into momentary repose. The final cadence capstones the work with an affirmation of serenity and quiet confidence.

There are few sounds as magical and gratifying to an audience as the sound of a wonderful treble chorus. Composers through the centuries have been captivated by the endless possibilities of that medium. Enjoy!
