Grant Us Thy Peace

The inaugural concert in 2009 of the SCCS (the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers) ended with a performance of this touching piece by Geoff Wilcken, written in the aftermath of 9/11. The sentiment is timeless, beautifully set to music and infinitely worthy of a wider audience.

Composer's note:

The tenor line in measures 19-22 is the first phrase of the 16th century Lutheran hymn “Erhalt uns Herr bei Deinem Wort” (“Lord, keep us in Thy Word”) and should be brought forward in the balance.
