Jim Moore

James A. Moore, Director of Choral Activities at East Texas Baptist University, is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and the University of North Texas. Previously, he was Choral Director at Irving High School and Conductor of the Irving Chorale.

His professional activity includes two terms as Vice-President of the Texas Choral Directors Association, Vocal Division Chair and President of the Texas Music Educators Association, President of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, National President of the American Choral Directors Association, and Southwestern Division President of ACDA. Also, he has served on the Board of Directors for the International Federation for Choral Music.

Mr. Moore was recently presented the most prestigious award given by Texas Choral Directors Association. The Texas Choirmaster Award, which has not been awarded since 1997 is the highest honor given by TCDA and is given to a person who has exhibited unparalleled leadership in the choral field and is a consummate conductor and musician.

Choirs under his direction have performed at conventions for TMEA, TCDA, the Texas Association of Music Schools, and the Music Educators National Conference. In addition, the ETBU Concert Choir was selected to perform for the 2000 ACDA Southwestern Division Convention and the 2001 ACDA National Convention.

He has conducted choirs on tours to Canada, England, Central Europe, Spain, Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. In addition, he has presented choral workshops and lectures in Brazil, Russia, South Korea, Hong Kong, and China and has served as a clinician and adjudicator in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a National Arts Associate of Sigma Alpha Iota, and a recipient of the East Texas Baptist University Alumni Association J. Wesley Smith Achievement Award.
