James Dearing

James Dearing, (October 20, 1943 - November 26, 2010) formerly the director of choral studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Music where he studied with Otto-Werner Mueller and Robert Fountain. Before coming to IUP, Dearing was assistant director of the 7th U.S. Army Soldiers Chorus and director of choral studies at the University of Virginia, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and California Polytechnic State University. As a member of the Roger Wagner Chorale, Dearing was tenor soloist on concert tours in the former Soviet Union, the Far East, South America, Europe, and throughout North America under the auspices of the U.S. State Department and Sol Hurok Productions. He serves as guest conductor and adjudicator for high school and collegiate choral festivals throughout North America.
