Dr. Dan Pinkston teaches courses in music theory, composition, technology, and worship leading. He has won many composition awards, commissions, and publications. Recently his composition "Woman, Why Are You Crying?" was commissioned and premiered by the North State Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Pinkston's "My Soul Magnifies the Lord," for choir and piano was published in 2008 by Alliance Music Publishers. ASCAPPlus awards for composition have been awarded annually from 2000-2007. Pinkston is the composer of Simpson University's official university hymn, "Lead Us, O Lord."
